Well Mark Knopfler and the band hit Toronto last night with a fabulous show (does he know how to play an un-fabulous show?) at the Molson Amphitheatre - 2 hours of pure bliss for thousands of diehard fans including femmeverte.The biggest surprise? No Money for Nothing encore. Not my absolute fave among his repertoire anyway so not a huge disappointment. Great rocking opening with Cannibals, beautiful treatments of Straits' songs So Far Away, Romeo & Juliet, Telegraph Road (very much on our minds as we spent a couple of hours stuck in traffic on the QE2 wondering if we would even make it in time for the encores - 6 lanes of traffic, 3 lanes mooooving slooooowwwwww), Brothers in Arms, and of course Sultans of Swing.
Plus some great tunes from Mark's solo albums including What It Is, Speedway to Nazareth (shout-out to TO of course), Song for Sonny Liston, Why Aye Man, Sailing to Philadelphia and True Love Will Never Die. Then he sent us all home happy with the always magical Local Hero theme.
Thanks again to Ashley for driving - her superb navigation meant we didn't miss a second of the show after all despite the worst the QE2 could throw at us. Sorry you didn't get to take home Mark's National guitar, Ash ;-(

Great photos, you must have been in the front row. Glad you had such a great summer experience.
Hey Deb, if I'd known you were a fan I would have asked you to join us on the road trip! Next time! We were actually in the 5th row, slightly left of centre ;-) but VERY close to the stage. Definitely the highlight of my year to date.
